MTU: Names released of 4 family members killed in Michigan house explosion…

Four family members have been identified as the victims of a tragic house explosion in Michigan. The incident occurred early in the morning on November 25, 2024, in the small town of Leelanau County, located in the northern part of the state. Authorities have confirmed that the victims were all residents of the home, which was destroyed by a massive blast that was heard miles away.

The victims were identified as James and Linda Thornton, both in their late 40s, and their two children, Ethan, 16, and Ava, 12. The Thornton family had lived in the area for over a decade, and were known for their active involvement in the local community.

Local authorities were called to the scene after neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion just before dawn. Firefighters and emergency responders arrived to find the home completely leveled, with debris scattered across the surrounding property. A search and rescue operation began immediately, but the wreckage was so extensive that authorities soon confirmed no survivors.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Early reports suggest that it could be related to a gas leak, though officials are not ruling out other possibilities at this stage. Investigators are working with local utility companies to determine whether any malfunction in the home’s gas lines may have contributed to the explosion.

The Thornton family’s neighbors and friends have expressed their shock and sorrow at the loss. “They were a wonderful family, always so kind and involved in everything. This is devastating for all of us,” said a neighbor, who requested anonymity.

As of now, a memorial fund has been set up for the victims’ funeral expenses, and the community has rallied together to support the Thornton family’s extended relatives. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to determine the full cause of the deadly blast.
