REPORT: Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Got Contract Help From HC Mike McDaniel.

The Miami Dolphins recently made headlines by announcing a significant contract extension for their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, valued at over $53 million annually.

Mike McDaniel Vouched for Tua Tagovailoa

In a recent press conference, Tua Tagovailoa shared insights into the pivotal role his head coach, Mike McDaniel, played in securing the extension. According to Tagovailoa, McDaniel’s strong support was instrumental in finalizing the deal ahead of the next season. Tagovailoa expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m very grateful for that.”

Improved Performance Under McDaniel

During his four-year stint with the Dolphins, Tagovailoa has worked under two head coaches. Brian Flores coached him for the first two years, followed by Mike McDaniel for the last two. A comparison of Tagovailoa’s performance under each coach clearly shows the positive impact McDaniel has had on his career.

Last season marked Tagovailoa’s first full season, during which he surpassed 4,000 passing yards and threw at least 25 touchdown passes each year with McDaniel at the helm. In contrast, during his first two years with Flores, Tagovailoa managed only 27 total touchdown passes and never exceeded 3,000 passing yards in a season.

Miami Dolphins Moving Forward

The chemistry between Tagovailoa and McDaniel appears to be stronger than ever, which will be crucial as they head into the 2024 season. Following a disappointing exit in the wild card round last year, McDaniel is focusing on ending the team’s 24-year playoff win drought this season.
