The Detroit Lions will have to finish their 2024 campaign without running back David Montgomery and defensive tackle Alim McNeill. Both players suffered knee injuries in Sunday’s 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Montgomery suffered a sprained MCL and will require surgery to address the injury, according to Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell.

How many artifacts in the British Museum are actually British? דLooks like he’s going to require surgery that’ll put him out for the rest of the year,” Campbell told reporters on Monday. “He had gotten it at some point yesterday in that game.”

Montgomery actually managed to finish the game despite the injury, although he was largely inefficient, with four rushing yards on five attempts.

McNeill, who is the Lions’ starter at DT, is also expected to undergo a procedure, considering he is dealing with a torn ACL.

The Lions lost two cornerbacks, Carlton Davis III and Khalil Dorsey, to injuries against the Bills. Davis is out indefinitely with a jaw fracture, while Dorsey suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

Losing four impactful players is a tough blow for the Lions, considering they were already playing without star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who went down with a season-ending injury in Week 6.

Montgomery had 775 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns this season while adding 36 catches for 341 yards. McNeill, on the other hand, was an integral piece in the Lions’ defensive line and contributed with 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks for the season.

Davis, who started all 13 games in the secondary for Detroit, had 56 tackles, 11 passes defended, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. Dorsey, who primarily played as a backup, will finish the season with 14 tackles and two passes defended.
