
Dismissed Michigan State AD Stands by Record Amid Conflict With Influential Individuals
Former Michigan State University Athletic Director Alan Haller, who was recently dismissed from his position, has spoken out in defense of his tenure, citing a strong record of leadership and program success despite internal disputes with influential stakeholders.
Haller, a former MSU football player and longtime administrator, served as athletic director since 2021. In a statement released following his departure, he acknowledged the growing tension between his office and certain high-powered donors and university figures, but maintained that his decisions were always guided by the best interests of student-athletes and the integrity of MSU athletics.
“I am proud of what we accomplished during my time as athletic director,” Haller said. “We navigated immense challenges, made key investments in facilities and mental health support, and held our programs to the highest academic and ethical standards.”
