
MTU News: Michigan Tech Introduces New Aerospace Engineering Degree Program.
Michigan Technological University’s College of Engineering has launched a new Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, expanding its engineering offerings to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the aerospace industry. The new program, which will begin accepting students in the fall of 2024, is designed to prepare graduates for careers in the rapidly evolving fields of aerospace design, technology, and innovation.
The decision to introduce an undergraduate aerospace engineering program comes in response to the increasing need for highly qualified engineers in the aerospace sector. According to industry reports, the aerospace market is expected to grow significantly in the coming decades, with advancements in commercial space travel, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and aircraft technologies. Michigan Tech’s new program aims to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on experience necessary to thrive in these dynamic fields.
The curriculum will cover core areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials science, and flight mechanics, ensuring that graduates are well-versed in the principles of both atmospheric and spaceflight systems. Students will also have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities, including the university’s Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory and the Experimental Flight Laboratory.
