
Marcus Tomashek, a sophomore guard for the Michigan Tech men’s basketball team, has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team for the 2023–24 season. This prestigious honor recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically.
Academic and Athletic Achievements
Tomashek, a Green Bay, Wisconsin native, boasts an impressive 3.8 GPA while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Forestry. On the court, he was among the top scorers in NCAA Division II, averaging 22.9 points per game. His shooting efficiency was notable, with a 45.6% field goal percentage, 41.3% from three-point range, and 86.7% from the free-throw line. He earned First Team All-GLIAC honors and led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with three Offensive Player of the Week awards .

The CSC Academic All-America program is one of the most esteemed awards in collegiate athletics, highlighting the dual commitment of student-athletes to their sport and academic pursuits.
