Tyler’s Take: The Boston Celtics take the seven-game series over the Orlando Magic

Tyler’s Take: Celtics Outlast Magic in Seven-Game Showdown

In a thrilling seven-game series, the Boston Celtics emerged victorious over the Orlando Magic, advancing with a hard-fought win that showcased their depth, experience, and resilience. From the opening tip to the final buzzer of Game 7, this series had everything: momentum swings, breakout performances, and nail-biting finishes. Ultimately, it was Boston’s poise under pressure and veteran leadership that tipped the scales in their favor.

Orlando came into the series as an underrated but dangerous opponent. Anchored by rising stars like Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, and backed by a gritty defensive mindset, the Magic pushed Boston to the limit. Banchero in particular proved why he’s one of the brightest young talents in the league, averaging over 24 points per game and showing no fear in big moments. Orlando’s length and tenacity frustrated Boston at times, especially in Games 3 and 4, when the Magic took a 3-1 series lead and appeared poised for a major upset.

But just when the Celtics seemed in trouble, their championship pedigree took over. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown delivered when it mattered most, especially in the final three games. Tatum dropped 38 points in Game 6 to force a deciding game in Boston, while Brown’s two-way play and late-game clutch shots in Game 7 helped seal the win. The return of Kristaps Porziņģis from injury also gave Boston a much-needed boost on both ends of the floor.

Credit also goes to head coach Joe Mazzulla, who made key adjustments late in the series—tightening the rotation, emphasizing transition defense, and putting more ball-handling responsibilities on Derrick White, who responded with smart playmaking and perimeter shooting.

The Magic, though disappointed, have nothing to hang their heads about. They pushed one of the league’s best teams to the brink and gained invaluable playoff experience. With their young core intact and cap space to make moves, Orlando’s future is bright.

As for Boston, the series served as a wake-up call. If they want to reach the Finals and bring Banner 18 to TD Garden, they’ll need to start stronger and avoid digging early holes. But for now, the Celtics advance, battle-tested and hungry—exactly the kind of team no one wants to face moving forward.
